The short version. Swipoo works entirely on your phone. There is no account, no server, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Swipoo never uploads your photos, videos or contacts, and we (Workaholic Developers) never receive any data about you or about how you use the app.
Who we are
Swipoo: Swipe Photo Cleaner (“Swipoo”, “the app”) is made by Workaholic Developers (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question, email info@workaholicdevelopers.com.
What we collect: nothing
- We don’t collect, store, sell or share personal data. Swipoo has no server, so there is nothing to collect it with.
- There is no sign-up and no account.
- The app contains no third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics or crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind.
- The app itself makes no network requests. The Android release build doesn’t even hold the Internet permission.
What the app does on your phone
Photos and videos
With your permission (full or limited access), Swipoo reads your photo library on the phone to:
- show your photos and videos as cards, with their date, size and type;
- find duplicates, similar shots, blurry photos, screenshots, screen recordings and large videos. To do this it works out, on the phone: perceptual image hashes (small fingerprints of what a picture looks like), a sharpness score, and a content hash of a file when two files have exactly the same size. On iPhone it also uses Apple’s Vision framework for image feature prints and face capture quality scores; on Android it uses the system’s built-in face detector. These are used only to group similar shots and pick the best one. Swipoo does not recognise or identify people.
These results, your swipe decisions (keep, bin, favourite, later), your progress, your stats (space freed, streaks, achievements) and your settings are kept in a local SQLite database in the app’s private storage. Nothing in it leaves the phone through Swipoo, and it is removed when you delete the app. On iPhone, like any app’s data, it is part of your own device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup). On Android it is excluded from backups.
With limited access, Swipoo can only see the photos and videos you chose.
iCloud Photos. Swipoo doesn’t download originals from iCloud to analyse them; items that are only in iCloud are skipped by smart finds. To show a card, iOS may fetch the photo or video from your own iCloud account, just as it does for the Photos app. That transfer is between your iPhone and Apple; Swipoo doesn’t send it anywhere.
Deleting
- Nothing is deleted while you swipe. Binned items are only marked inside the app, and you can restore them.
- When you choose Delete, the request goes to your phone’s operating system, which asks you to confirm.
- On iPhone, deleted items move to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where you can recover them for 30 days.
- On Android 11 and later, deleted items move to the system trash, where you can restore them (usually for 30 days).
- On Android 10 and earlier there is no system trash, so deleting is permanent once you confirm.
Favourites
When you swipe a photo up, Swipoo marks it as a favourite in your phone’s library (the Favorites album on iPhone; Android 11 and later), in one batch when you finish the deck. Your phone may ask you to confirm. Swipoo only does this for items you swiped up. On Android 10 and earlier, favourites are kept inside Swipoo only.
Compressed videos
When you compress a video, the smaller copy is saved as a new item in your library with the original’s date and location. The original stays untouched unless you choose to bin it. On Android, Swipoo holds the “access media location” permission only so the copy keeps the location already stored in the original video. Swipoo never asks for or reads your current location.
Contacts
Only if you open the optional Contacts cleaner and allow access:
- Swipoo reads your contacts on the phone to find duplicates (the same phone number or the same name). Contacts are not copied into Swipoo’s database and never leave the phone through Swipoo.
- Nothing changes until you confirm a merge.
- On iPhone, the card you keep receives the other cards' phone numbers, email addresses and other details it is missing (such as addresses, birthdays and a photo), and then the other cards are deleted, in one step.
- On Android, the cards are linked with Android’s own “link contacts” feature, so nothing is deleted and you can unlink them in your Contacts app.
- If your contacts sync with an account (such as iCloud or Google), the change syncs like any edit you make yourself.
Notifications
All reminders (the monthly Clean-up day, “your bin isn’t empty” and the optional daily goal nudge) are scheduled locally on your phone. There is no push server.
Links
Links to our website, the app stores, email or other Workaholic Developers apps open in your browser or mail app. Those sites and services have their own privacy policies.
This website
swipoo.wdlab.app has no cookies, no analytics and no ads, and loads nothing from other sites. Like any web server, it keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser user agent, page requested and time) for security and troubleshooting. They are deleted automatically after about 14 days.
Children
Swipoo is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children.
Your choices
- You can change or withdraw Photos, Contacts or Notifications access at any time in your phone’s Settings.
- To remove everything Swipoo stored, delete the app. Your photos, videos and contacts stay where they are.
- We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. You are still welcome to ask us anything.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. If the app ever handles data differently (which would need an app update), we will explain it here before that update is released.
