Email supportRecover deleted photos and videos
Swipoo never deletes anything without your phone asking you first, and on most phones deleted items can be brought back for a while.
iPhone
- Open the Photos app.
- Scroll down to Utilities (on iOS 17 and earlier, tap Albums first) and tap Recently Deleted.
- Unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode if asked.
- Tap Select, choose the photos and videos, then tap Recover.
Items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days. After that, iOS removes them for good.
Android 11 and later
- Open your gallery app. Where the trash lives depends on the app: in Google Photos it’s Collections › Bin (or Trash); other gallery apps call it Recycle bin or Trash, often in the ⋮ menu.
- Select the photos and videos.
- Tap Restore.
Items in the system trash are usually kept for 30 days.
Android 10 and earlier
These versions have no system trash, so deleting is permanent. If you use a backup service (such as Google Photos backup), your backed-up copies may still be there.
Change photo access
iPhone
- Go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos › Swipoo (on iOS 18 and later also Settings › Apps › Swipoo › Photos).
- Choose Full Access, Limited Access or None. With Limited Access, tap Edit Selected Photos to choose what Swipoo can see. You can also use “Select more photos” in Swipoo.
Android
- Go to Settings › Apps › Swipoo › Permissions › Photos and videos (or long-press the Swipoo icon › App info).
- Choose Allow all, Allow limited access (Android 14 and later) or Don’t allow.
Contacts and notifications are on the same screens. Swipoo’s own Settings has a shortcut to them too.
Undo a contact merge
- iPhone: the duplicate cards were deleted after their details were copied into the card you kept, so their phone numbers and emails are still there. If you use iCloud Contacts, iCloud.com can restore an earlier version of your contacts (Settings › Data Recovery › Restore Contacts).
- Android: Swipoo links duplicates rather than deleting them. Open the contact in your Contacts app, tap ⋮ › Linked contacts (or View linked contacts) and choose Unlink.
Common questions
Is Swipoo free?
Yes. Swipoo is free to download and every feature is included at launch. There are no ads and no weekly subscription that pops up after three swipes.
Does Swipoo upload my photos?
No. Swipoo has no servers and no account. Your photos and videos are read on your phone to show them as cards and to find duplicates, similar and blurry shots, and the results stay in the app’s private storage on your phone. The Android app doesn’t even have the Internet permission.
If you use iCloud Photos, iOS may fetch a photo from your own iCloud account so Swipoo can show it, just as the Photos app does. Nothing goes to us.
Can I undo a delete?
While you swipe, Undo takes you back card by card, and anything in the bin can be restored with a tap. When you do delete, your phone asks you to confirm first.
On iPhone, deleted photos and videos stay in Photos › Recently Deleted for 30 days. On Android 11 and later they go to the system trash (usually for 30 days), which you’ll find in your gallery app as Bin, Trash or Recycle bin. On Android 10 and earlier there is no trash, so deleting is permanent. Step-by-step recovery guide.
What does limited photo access mean?
iPhone, and Android 14 and later, let you share only some of your photos with an app. With limited access, Swipoo can only see, sort and clean up the photos you picked, and smart finds only look at those. You can add more photos or allow full access at any time from Swipoo’s settings or your phone’s settings. How to change photo access.
Which languages does Swipoo speak?
English and Hindi (हिन्दी). Swipoo follows your phone’s language, and you can switch in Swipoo › Settings.
Why would Swipoo ask for my contacts?
Only if you open the optional Contacts cleaner. It finds duplicate contacts on your phone and merges only the ones you pick. If you never open it, Swipoo never asks.
Smart finds is still scanning. Is that normal?
Yes. The first scan of a big library takes a while because every photo is analysed on your phone. It runs while Swipoo is open, pauses in the background and picks up where it left off. Later scans only look at new or changed photos.
Why are some photos missing from smart finds?
Swipoo doesn’t download originals from iCloud, so photos that are only stored in iCloud (with “Optimise iPhone Storage” on) are skipped. With limited access, Swipoo only sees the photos you chose.
I don’t get reminders.
Check that notifications are allowed for Swipoo in your phone’s Settings, and that the reminders you want are switched on in Swipoo › Settings. All reminders are scheduled on your phone, so they work offline.
How do I start over?
Delete Swipoo and install it again. That removes everything Swipoo stored (your decisions, stats and settings). It doesn’t touch your photos, videos or contacts.
